How we are staying on track this winter
As the weather gets colder and the mornings get darker, staying consistent with your health and fitness routine can suddenly feel a lot harder. You’re not imagining it either. Winter tends to disrupt routines, reduce motivation and make comfort foods feel a little more tempting. But it's the women who stay consistent through winter who see the biggest progress by summer.
The good news? You don’t need superhuman motivation to stay on track. A few simple adjustments can make a huge difference.
Here are five ways to stay consistent with your training and nutrition over winter.
1. Lower the barrier to showing up
One of the biggest mistakes people make in winter is expecting themselves to stay motivated in the same way they do in summer.
Instead of relying on motivation, focus on lowering the barrier to showing up.
Examples:
• Pack your gym bag the night before
• Lay out your gym clothes before bed
• Choose a program that fits your schedule (eg.reduce to 3 training days per week rather than 5)
The easier it is to start, the more likely you are to follow through.
2. Keep your meals simple
Winter is actually the perfect time for meal prep.
Comfort-style meals like burrito bowls, tray bakes, slow-cooker meals and soups are easy to batch cook and keep you feeling full and warm.
Instead of trying to cook something new every day, choose 3–4 meals you can repeat during the week.
Consistency with nutrition becomes much easier when meals are simple.
3. Focus on routine, not motivation
Motivation comes and goes, especially during colder months. Routine is what keeps you consistent.
Try setting specific training days each week and treating them like appointments.
Once your sessions become part of your routine, you no longer need to rely on motivation to show up.
4. Use community and accountability
One of the biggest predictors of success with fitness is having support.
Whether that’s training with a friend, joining a gym community or working with a coach, accountability can make all the difference. Our TWS girlies know this firsthand!
When you’re surrounded by people working toward similar goals, it’s easier to keep going on the days you don’t feel like it.
5. Remember your “why”
Winter can sometimes feel like a long stretch between January motivation and summer results.
This is why it helps to reconnect with your reason for starting.
Ask yourself:
• How do I want to feel by the end of winter?
• What habits am I proud of building right now?
• What would happen if I stayed consistent for the next 3 months?
Progress doesn’t come from perfect weeks.
It comes from continuing to show up - even when motivation isn’t there.
If you struggle to stay consistent through winter, the biggest thing that helps is having a clear plan to follow.
Inside the TWS app our members get access to:

So instead of trying to stay motivated on your own, you have a system that helps you stay consistent.
